This series of works was a response to the global gold mining industry. In particular, this series focused on the blatant disregard of environmental and social welfares in the name of supply, demand, and ultimately profit.

Yes, it is such a huge yet predominantly overlooked aspect of jewellery making. One positive that has come from my research is that there are organisations fighting for tighter regulation, to make mining ethical. www.ethicalmetalsmiths.org is a site initiated by such people.
